O foco criativo de Caetano Veloso, segundo ele mesmo diz, está agora no álbum que prepara para Gal Costa.
Com lançamento previsto para o primeiro semestre de 2011, o disco deve sair pela Universal --mesma gravadora que reedita agora os 15 primeiros trabalhos da cantora, gravados originalmente entre 1967 e 1983, na caixa "Gal Total", que já está nas lojas.
"Quando Caetano me disse, depois de ver um show meu em Lisboa, que queria trabalhar comigo em um disco, não achei que fosse ser tão logo", diz Gal.
Moreno Veloso, coprodutor do trabalho, passa tardes na casa de Gal, em Salvador, tocando as canções ao violão, tirando tons, cantando as músicas novas com ela.
Mais da metade do repertório --canções inéditas, todas dele-- já está pronto. As que faltam estão "bem adiantadas", segundo Caetano.
"Há tempos, tenho um sonho de repertório e som para um disco com a voz dela", afirma o compositor.
Esse som, no entanto, não terá como referência a estética explosiva que pautou os trabalhos dos dois nos bons tempos tropicalistas.
"Naquele período, eu usava o grito como forma de expressão, fazia uns sons estranhos", diz Gal. "Eu me engajei no tropicalismo de coração, não intelectualmente. Nada do que fiz foi racional."
Caetano afirma que a sonoridade que planeja para Gal "não tem nada a ver com volta ao grito". Mas também não vai se apoiar no formato que a cantora vem adotando nos últimos trabalhos.
Para isso, pretende escalar o maestro Jacques Morelenbaum e o guitarrista Pedro Sá, ambos colaboradores assíduos de Caetano, para ajudarem na produção musical --o primeiro vai trazer os arranjos "clássicos", com naipe de cordas etc.; o outro dará a pegada roqueira.
METAMORFOSE
A caixa "Gal Total" flagra as muitas metamorfoses sofridas por Gal Costa a partir da estreia em LP, em 1967, com o bossanovista "Domingo" --em dupla com Caetano.
A partir dali, ela vestiria as personagens mais díspares.
Roqueira tropicalista (em "Gal Costa", de 1969), hippie psicodélica ("Gal", 1969, e "Legal"), musa da contracultura ("Fa-Tal", 1971), artista experimental ("Índia", 1973).
Em "Cantar" (1974) --também dirigido por Caetano, aliás-- Gal inauguraria o modelo que seguiria nos anos seguintes: a cantora-cantora, de técnica apurada, voz límpida e afinação perfeita, à maneira de Ella Fitzgerald.
Lançados quase anualmente até o fim do contrato com a gravadora, em 1983, os oito discos que completam a caixa apenas consagrariam --ou negariam-- a eficiência dessa personagem --última que adotou para si. Pelo menos até agora.

The creative focus of Caetano Veloso, he says, is now preparing for the album Gal Costa.
Scheduled for release in the first half of 2011, the disc should come out by Universal - the same label that reissues now the top 15 works of the singer, originally recorded between 1967 and 1983 in the "Total Gal," which is now in stores.
"When Caetano told me, after seeing a show of mine in Lisbon, I wanted to work with me on a disk, I did not think it would be this soon," says Gal.
Moreno Veloso, co-producer of the work, spends afternoons at the home of Gal, in Salvador, playing the songs on the guitar, taking tones, singing the songs with her.
More than half of the repertoire - new songs, all of it - is ready. The remaining are "well advanced", according to Caetano.
"There are times, I have a dream of repertoire and sound for an album with her voice," says the composer.
This sound, however, will not reference the aesthetics explosive that directed these works in good times tropicalistas.
"At that time, I used the cry as a form of expression, made weird sounds," says Gal. "I engaged in tropicalismo heart, not intellectually. Nothing I did was rational."
Caetano said that it plans to sound Gal "has nothing to do with to shout back". But it also will not support the format that the singer has adopted in recent works.
For that, you want to climb the conductor Jacques Morelenbaum and guitarist Pedro Sá, both frequent contributors to Caetano, to assist in the musical production - the first will bring the arrangements "classic" suit with ropes etc.. And the other will rock the footprint .
METAMORPHOSIS
The box "Total Gal" busted the many metamorphoses undergone by Gal Costa from the debut LP in 1967, with the bossa nova "Sunday" - a duet with Caetano.

In "Sing" (1974) - also led by Caetano, incidentally - Gal inaugurate the model would follow in subsequent years: a singer-singer, a good technique, clear voice and perfect pitch, the manner of Ella Fitzgerald.
Released almost annually until the end of the contract with the label in 1983, the eight disks that complete the box just consecrate - or deny - the efficiency of this character - he adopted for himself last. At least until now.
